Can I Use an Internal Closed-loop Cooling System for My Data Center?

Internal Closed-loop Cooling System

An internal closed-loop cooling system, also known as a closed-couple system, is the perfect solution for high density data centers, because it can eliminate hotspots while simultaneously increasing energy efficiency.

If you are managing a high performance data center, you will be well aware how challenging it can be to maintain a uniform server room temperature because even with a traditional layout including fans, under-floor, or overhead cooling systems, it can be difficult to remove hot exhaust air from the room. This is where closed-loop cooling comes in.

What is Close-loop Cooling?

Close-loop cooling is a relatively recent innovation in data room cooling solutions. The purpose of this type of cooling system is to return the heat transfer near to its original source: the server rack. By bringing the air conditioning system closer, more efficient delivery of inlet air is ensured as is better capture of exhaust air. Advantages include:

  • Suitable for high density racks
  • Savings on power consumption
  • Increased energy output
  • Enabling maximum wattage GPUs and CPUs
  • Noise reduction due to reduced fan speed
  • No need to change the infrastructure of your current data center
  • Improved overall data center efficiency
  • Hot spots eliminated
  • Uniform server inlet temperature maintained
  • Less evaporation than open loop systems have
  • Use less water over time

Contact us today to find out more about closed loop cooling systems.
